Thought one of you guys might know. Looking for a lake in western wa. that has a good campground, meaning one with some room between you and the next guy, could be public or private. That has some fishing and is warm enough for wakeboarding, so like, no real high mountain lakes. Prefer a place where I could pull my boat to shore and not worry about it. Be nice if it was large enough to get away from other boats somewhat.

Thanks in advance!!! C

Lake Goodwin outside of Smokey Pt./Arllington has it all...decent trout and spiny ray fishing, plenty of room for wakeboarding and a great camping area at the state park.

Two words - Mayfield Lake. We go and love it, stay at the Tacoma Power campground, they have a great swimming area and you can beach your boat right by your campsite, if you get one on the water. Big lake, nice trout fishing, and huge Tiger Muskies if you got the gumption to try for them. It is a very nice lake and big enough to ski/tube/wakeboard away from others.

Lake Ozette

It wont be 110 degrees in the shade, but Ericksons Bay warms for swimming. Hike thru old-growth to ocean wilderness.

I'd have to agree with Steve. Mayfield is a great lake. But I would stay at the State Park because it is in the forest unlike the Tacoma Power campground. There is some great fishing for trout trolling 40 yards off the shore of the State Park. Pop gear and a worm or weddingring tipped with worm dose the trick. I didn't have any luck with the muskie though... rolleyes

Baker Lake is an option. Rainbow and kokanee fishing and plenty big to get away from other boats. The campgrounds are decent, but I wouldn't pull a boat up behind the camp at night. You might wake up to find that the lake has dropped and your boat is 50ft from the water.

Chalan has boat in camp grounds with docks to tye your baot to. the boat in camps are all really nice with tables and fire rings. also out houses. the water is clear and there is alot to do on the lake . besides chalan there are two more towns at the top end of the lake . The lake in 50 miles long so bring gas but their are several places to gas up on the lake including 25 mile camp ground. It has full hook ups for campers and a protected dock with indivioul slips. Diablo Lake in on the North Casscades highway is absolutley beautiful and you can catch good numbers of trout at the mouth of colonial creek. Or perryigin lake over in Winthrop.
