OK Grandpa, time to go fishing again. You have officially fallen off the wagon of no Political posts.

One gripe that I have, socialism and liberalism are not synonomous. I have lived in a Socialistic country and it is significantly different than anything we have here in the US or even in Washington. Sims, Locke, Talmadge are liberals, they are not socialists.

I'm taking my kids out for their first salmon fishing excursion this weekend. It's important to raise the next generation of voters to have an appreciation for fishing. But, the joy of togetherness and fishing is priceless.

Eddie....I beg to differ...socialists abound in our state. Philosophically speaking anyway.

I have caught so many fish in the last three weeks that I have to get some pent up politics out of my system.

Oh I almost forgot to clarify: Liberalism is a severe mental disorder requiring immediate hospitalization. Socialism is a philosophy and form of governing.

In typical blowhard fashion he would herald it as having built a 'bridge of freedom' between the races...

...while at the same time ordering another 'high boy' from his imported labor housemaid....

Funny how a little political razzamatazz brings out the both of you at once. Do you guys have a flashing blue light on your computers that goes off when a political rant from the opposing side gets posted???

Where were both of you guys when I posted one fishing post after another? Too boring? I thought so.....

I don't listen to Rush much but I do prefer to listen to Savage on my way home from work. And John Carlson....So does that make me a redneck?

Pretty early yet, none of the potential candidates have put out much in the way of platforms or running issues. But I agree with Salmo and JacobF--sporties just don't have much clout in state-wide elections. Either there are not enough of us to create enough political influence or any economic influence is too diffuse. John Carlsons run using nets as one of his platforms showed this all to clearly. Too bad. I hasten to say that this is not true for local issues. I think sporties are capable of influencing Fish and Wildlife Commissioners, WDFW policies, North of Falcon proceedings, etc.

My early choice is Christine Gregoire, the present attorney general, a job she's held for the last 10 years. Prior to AG, she ran the Washington State Department of Ecology from 1988 to 1992 and did a fine job. Ecology also walks the fine line between environmental stewardship and the suffocation of business interests. The fact that she held this appointment for 4 years tells me she has an awareness of the issues, problems, and an ability to grasp the technical. I don't know what her specific stances on fish are, but I've always believed that environmental policies are just as important as harvest policies (probably more so) when it comes to the health of our fisheries.
