We just bought a used Arima Sea Chaser and it came with downrigger mounting bases but no downriggers. I'm trying to identify what brand/type of downrigger is used on these bases.

Each base is a smooth/flat 5" square of hard black plastic that is about 1/4' thick. They are mounted to the boat with four countersunk screws in each corner. Just inboard of these screws are 4 more screw "inserts" which appear to be where the downrigger attaches to the base.

That's all there is to them. No identifying marks or lettering. No grooves or rails for sliding on a downrigger like some brands have.

Does anyone have any idea what brand of downrigger these might be for?

Thank you!

Braz

Sorry, no pictures yet. I can probably get one in the morning but we just got home about an hour ago. Had 9 hours worth of driving to go pick up the "new" boat and bring it home. Too dang tired to do anything more tonight. smile

They don't look anything like the Scotty ones linked to and I've had Cannon downriggers in the past. My Cannon bases had grooves in them for the downriggers to slide and lock into. These have nothing, except the extra screw "inserts".

I'll try to post a pic tomorrow morning.

Sounds like the Scotty base plate for the Pedestal/Swivel Mount.

Except the threaded inserts are outside of the countersunk mounting holes on mine.

Hmm...you might be onto something Damon. They do look a little bit like the Scotty pedastal base in the link above. The part I'm referring to would be the very bottom piece of the three stacked up pieces show in the picture. And it's entirely possible the inserts on my bases are just as you've said yours are. I was going by memory because it's pouring outside and I was too tired (lazy?) to go back out and look again before I posted. smile

if their is a large hole on one end and it has a space on the bottom side for a large nut it is a penn base.
