Just got $400 worth of goodies from PEN-TAC today!
Real proof that you can still get the best spinner / spoon components once again!
Watch out you late coho, we're locked & loaded again for the next drop in the water!
Sounds like the fella took a big gamble gettig the biz up and running again .. so be sure to show him that we're happy to have the components available again by placing an order.
Might not hurt to tell him you heard about it here ... might buy some ad space space down the road to support us as well!

Hey Bob...or anyone else for that matter...is there much of a difference between Pen-Tac and Mor-Tac components? Prior to Pen-Tac coming back, I've been using a lot of Mor-Tac stuff with good results. Thinking of switching back.

Yes, there is a slight difference between Mor Tac and Pen Tac. The spinner blades are absolutely mirror identical, the difference is in the spoon bodies. Hold a BC and a Stilly together, notice how they do not match up? The Stilly has a slightly more pronounced wave near the base (bottom) than the BC. While this increased wave makes for slightly higher action at slower speeds, it does create more "push" or lift which, while barely noticeable, makes the lure ride higher in the water and a bit more difficult to get down. Also check out the difference in camber (the horizontal bend of the body). There is a .016 difference in the camber of the BC, this makes it again slightly more alble to wobble and not roll over and begin to spin, the bane of all spoon fishermen. The #2 Mor Tac is just shy of 2/5ths ounce BC, the #3 is just shy of 2/3rds ounce BC. So, even though they appear the same, they are indeed very different in weight, wave frequency, camber, and hole placement. Otherwise, both have high quality metal finishes and both are wonderful lures. So I've heard.....

Besides the spoon differences, there are some differences in the blades as well. No 4.5 in the Mor-Tac lineup ... it's far and away my fave blade size and am extremely happy to get it again. Just the right size to feel the thump, even for those that don't fish a lot without providing too much lift. The one plus to Mar-tac compnents is that the diamter of the interior of the 4 and 5 bodies is a little bigger that allows for easier powder-coating and the subsequent drilling we do to clear each end

Looking at all those Pen-Tac spinner components, are there any that are preferred for average conditions? If you only carried a couple with you which would they be?

Thanks Parker!
Where can I find those hootchies? And what colors? Do they match or contrast the body? What about attaching them; is it captured in the eye of the Siwash?
If you could post, or send me, a pic that would help.

I sure like the BC spoons over the MorTACs. Wish they make the hammered spoons.

Thanks for the pictures. They make everything clear enough so that I can give it a try. The pictures and the info that you and Bob supplied is what makes this site a valuable reference for me and keeps me tuned in.
