went down to the Squally this morn after PT . Hooked and landed 2 DAWG's . 1 was #12 and the other 14 # saw as many as 20 landed by noon but then i had to get back to post . the usual gear of corkies and yarn are winners though the water is still high and a bit milky

The Dawg cool

there's a few fish trickling in. for the effort most people fishing there seem to be putting in, i'd rather be steelheadin. not worth the drive yet if you're more than 5 miles away. dunno if i got there at the wrong time or what, but the most fish i've seen landed in a 4 hour period was 3

I agree with chum man. If your lucky in 8 hours you may hook a fish. The Indians expect a low run this year look for it to be shut down early. I'm going steelheading.

Hey dog fish..............
If you live in lacey why do you even need to ask?
I guess you want everyone down on the river with you this year. What a smart move.....

I agree with you, Rivernut...Checked it out yesterday at the Tank crossing and near the Handicap fishing area...dead....dead...deeaad...Lots of fisherman and one guy looking into peoples cars who didn't have a rod..He took off after we eyeballed him....May be different if the river drops...I do live within 5 miles so I don't mind the drive....have fun with dogs and save the drivin for the steelies!!!

the thing about the nisqually is that it isn't one of those rivers like the skok where you can usually catch chums till your arms ache...usually a couple in a day here is doing good, dunno why it attracts so much attention. maybe because it's close

wouldn't be suprised at all to see it get shut down early again though. seems to happen a lot these days

Yea, I'm sorry rivernut! The nisqually is such a secret! Man, what was I thinking! There goes another zipper! I went down this morning and it was packed. The river is high and muddy still. Saw three guys yelling at people, drunk as skunks. There were cars parked in every turnout upstream of the handicap access. I don't know why I even bother anymore.

i used to fish the nisqually for peace and quiet, you could be the only guy there sometimes a few years ago. kinda miss that, but every good thing has to come to an end someday. it's still fun for me, though

How much weight were you guys using...were you down on the bottom.

caugth steelin what was your setup tp have such sucess? You must have been using a ton of weight.

See ya there again..Im in a BIG white jeep...say Hi or wave if you see me.

i've been using about 2" of the thick pencil lead...gets down there but the river is still way too fast for my liking

hope the water comes down a bit soon

Has there been any improvement in the chum fishing down on the Nasty? Seems to be starting out slow this season or is it still early? Thanks
