Buckmaster,
Both can be good. I would definately start with the hollow between the ferry and AppleTree Pt. First because it is closer if you launch at the marina, next because it is more protected from wind and current, then because it is a easier and smaller area to find the fish. I often move to JH with a few stops in between after I have prospected AT Cove and had a chance to size up wind/tide conditions. The JH area is a bigger and more diverse area which makes it a little harder to locate the fish sometimes, but it is definately worth the effort.

Thanks for the advice mooch. I was on the water at 8:00 am fished about an hour by the ferry docks, I then remembered about a shelf I found between the ferry dock and Apple tree point while trolling for silvers this summer, I found it again and first time down to the bottom I hooked a 24 inch black mouth, back at the launch at 9:30. Not bad for my first time mooching in that area. Reminded me of point no point.
