I've decided to run Power Pro on my new plugs rods when I FINALLY get my new Willie in 4 weeks (it has been ordered). What pound test should I run. I was thinking either the 50 or 65. What do you think? i was also going with the high vis yellow so I could see my line better. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

for steelies the 30lb test with 8lb diameter is ideal. You might want to go higher for chinook

Just a tip for power pro for pulling plugs. I have the regular green so its hard to see vs mono. What we do is slide on a nail knot like those used for bobber fishing. You can use this knot to make sure both rods are out the same distance. A lot of guys also use a 6 ft mono leader. The thought being that when a fish its a plug, you need a bit of stretch to keep it from pulling the plug out on the strike. I have gone straight to the power pro with good results however. We use the 30 lb for steelies and love it.

I am also giving the 30lb power pro a try this season.

With limited use so far I have noticed that it sure does allow the plugs to work better then the 12# mono does.

When you guys (gals) use a mono leader, do you use a barrel swivel or a surgeans loop or blood knot. Still not sure how I'll start out. Want to go forward on my best foot though. Thanks for any input.

I use the hi-vis power pro on my plug rods so I can see how close to the fish holding snag my plug is, and I also use about a 4 foot mono leader. I put a quality swivel between the braid and the mono. One great advantage is that when debris is in the river, the swivel catches most of it so that it does not end up on the plug.

Barrel swivel to power pro- 6 ft of maxima - then high quality ball bearing swivel to make plug changing easy. I need to try some of the high vis power pro. It really is hard to see when your on the sticks with the green stuff. But hard to un-spool new line.. its not cheap.

Anyone ever had this happen ??? fishing at the top of a run in pretty fast water, inside pole gets snagged. Try to get it unhooked but water is way to fast and boat is below snagged up plug. Guy goes and trys to break it off instead of cutting it. When it " finally " snaps the power pro buries itself into the spool, bigtime. Lesson learned. Don't try and break the stuff off, just cut it if it gets down to that.

Also, Shoemaker- Love the picture on your avatar - No other one on the board makes me want to go fishing right now as much as that one. I wish I was in that boat on that run at that time. ( I have no idea where it is but looks nice) laugh

We are using a double uni-knot to attach a 10 or 12 foot 12# flurocarbon leader. I think the main is 30 pound (white stuff that looks like floss)
OK try this

Trim the tag ends!
