I am looking at building a mooching rod for my dad and was hoping you guys could reccomend some blanks that arent too expensive. I think I want something about 10 feet or so. I can probably go about $100 for the blanks. Thanks David

Prices are last years so they may be higher this year. Rainshadow: ISA1086F-M 9 ft, 2 piece, 12-25# line, .75-3 lure weight, MOD HVY $103.96 ISA1266F-M 10'-6, 2 piece 12-25# line, .75-3 lure weight, MOD HVY, $116.39 Anglers workshop: SA90MH2 9'-0", 15-30# line, 2-6oz lure weight, 2piece, $118.00 SH90MH2 9'-0", 10-20#line, 3/8-4oz lure weight, 2piece, $112.00 I have built the Anglers workshop SA90MH2, Its a nice rod, I couldn't tell you about warranty or anything... Thats a good thing though, cause they have withstood some abuse. I haven't built the Rainshadow salmon rods but I have built there 1141, and 1143 I absolutely love their blanks. Heres a couple of websites for local companies to check out. Anglers workshop gregs custom rods shoff tackle

Best current blank buy out there is at http://www.angelfire.com/ks/bingham/index.html They have had the Rainshadow 1265 on their bargain page for around $50. Very good people to deal with.

I had TH build me a mooching rod two summers ago. He built a Rainshadow 1264 with Titanium guides. I told him what I wanted and he reccomended the 1264. The 1264 he picked was a great choice. I believe the blank was right around $75-80.

I'll second the praise for Bingham enterprises. I've started making my own rods, and they usually get the nod,if I can't find what I need locally.

Just bought a Rainshadow STC1025 8'6" 10-17 lb. Its a great rod for all around. From steelhead to mooching for kings. Its on the lighter shorter side for mooching, but a great rod if you like some fun. Rainshadow is the only way to go. Bill Batson is a friend of mine and sold me the rod personally and I would recommend his blanks, components, or even full rods to anyone. They're great!!!
