It was a beautiful day so after work i hooked up the boat and headed for the Willamette, I asked my neighbor to come with me, he had time to kill before work. We got started about 3:00. It seemed that the tide was coming in most of the time out there and then i noticed debris floating about...It started running out....It was about 5:30 and we were trolling our way back in....That's when i heard my clicker singing a song from long ago...Fish on ! I battled the fish while my friend got the net ready and straightened out the boat....After a few short drive by's i noticed a little adipose....so while the fish was still in the water ;\) we got a quick photo. It was a small Chinook...maybe 10lbs. I was using herring with a "Krippled Minnow" nose cap...you might see it just above the fish....Anyway...here is the little Salmonoid.

This is the first of hopefully many i will share with you this year.

Louis

Nice to see someone sacrifice a hero shot for the sake of the fish's health.

Cupo, No hero shots here.... Rules are rules....these babes don't leave the water. I just wish they had the same rules for Native Steelhead as they do Springers.

Slabhunter, This is what i'm doing...seems to work for me...i get a good roll...and keep the herring in good shape to troll for a while. I use a Rogue bait rig, adjustable 2 hook baitfish rig, made by Luhr-Jensen...most come with a quick change blade but i take it off...i just want the holder ...i could just make my own but i'm being lazy. Then..i get the 'Krippled' Herring nose cap and put them together..... It's getting late or i'd take a pic for you it's easy to use because all you do is just put the nose of the herring in the plastic head...run a toothpic through to hold it into place...then the upper hook is inserted in the herring.....then one wrap around the body and through the tail with the trailing treble hook...tune the herring and fish....better hook-ups with that trailing treble...really \:D
