Last night they held the Pre-NOF discusssion at the Mill Creek office. There were about 70 people in attendance with the majority of attendees representing various Angler groups like PSA, Boeing S&S, & TU. There were very few sportsfisherman present
The major topics of dicusssion were:

Expansion of Chinook fishery on the SKykomish.

Opening up a spring Chinook fishery on the Skagit.

Expansion of the MA7 fishery of Chinook in the early summer.

Change in Season for the Elliott bay Chinook fishery.

Proposal to open up MA 8.1-8.2 for selective Chinook fishery during June-July.
I personally brought up the fact that I would like to see a change in the season for Elliot Bay. It seems that it closes down for sporties every year right as the fishing gets hot. Tom Nelson and I both adamantly requested that the commitee make a proposal to the Muckleshoots for the season to be opened about three weeks later and run three weeks later. This means we could fish the last weekend of July through the first weekend of September, rather than fishing in the beginning of July and stopping in mid-August when the fishing really turns on. I received good feedback from the Committe about this idea, they indicated that the Tribe would probably be much more willing to shift the season opening and closing dates instead of adding to the length of the season.
I will also be calling the Mr. Moses of the Muckleshoots to personally request that they accept this proposal later today.
The guys from Hook, Line, and Sinker rallied for a a Spring fishery on the Skagit since the retunrs are mostly of hatchery origin.
I'll let some of the rest of the people who attended speak up about other issues I detailed above.
I'll be at the Lynnwood North of Falcon meeting next week to push for a expanded Sky Chinook fishery this summer and a modification to the Elliott Bay Chinook season. Hope to see some of you there.
