I'm thinking about fishing Sunday down at Cathlamet since it has been so poor up river lately. What have the wait times been at the ramp on the weekends down there? Also, I will be trolling herring and was wondering where most guys are concentrating their efforts? I've heard Clifton Channel and the Oregon side of Puget Island are good areas but since I have a flat bottom sled and don't want to get pounded to death I was wondering if there are other areas closer to the Cathlamet ramp that might be just as good. Just looking for general info here not zipperlip spots. Ok to e-mail me directly if you prefer. Any help would be appreciated.

I was down there last Sunday and the wait was about 15 minutes max... great flow!

Weather is looking great for the weekend. You shouldn't have a problem at all in your boat.

Downriggin,

Thanks for the info. We're considering putting in on the Westport side as well but since we don't know the area at all we are a bit stumped on where to go once we put in. Can you tell me generally where most guys are trolling herring? Ok to e-mail me directly if you need to. Thanks again for the info.

We launched there on Saturday, about 15 minute wait like already said. Just enough time to get the boat ready. With good weather you won't have a problem crossing to Clifton, we see drift boats with kickers doing it all the time. As far as where to fish, just follow the line of boats, there are no zippers out there.

Thanks for the info guys. Hopefully I'll make it down there....still have lots of honey dos and trying to decide whether I want to get them out of the way now before the bulk of the run shows up. Springer fever is hard to shake...LOL
