Im thinking about the above mentioned boat with a Yamaha 115/80 jet 4 st. Does anyone own or know of anyone who does and do you think power is adequate? The hull wgt is 1250. Its the max jet they will install due to the weight of the motor. That goes for the 2 stroke as well. Its the biggest boat i can fit in my garage and wallet. thanks in advance.

I run a merc 150/105 pump on a 17' 1200# hull and would not consider having less power.

Go 2 stroke, with more power and less weight, or go with a prop.

I have a custom built 18' 1200# sled, flat bottom with a 150/105 Johnson on it and I too wouldn't run with anything less.

I was considering the same boat and setup, after alot of research with the 80hp pump if your'e by yourself and very little gear hole shot would be slow and and maybe 28-32 mph and add any weight and you know the story. I ended up buying last october the 19ft mariner with a 90 yami and a 8 yami with prop protecter both 4 strokes excellant choice of boat 95'' beam can you say lots of room plenty of power and I can go up the rivers till the end of tide water. I bought the boat for under 25,000,00. If you have any question PM me.

Thanks all, i wanted to go with a yamaha 2 stroke 150/105, but it weighs the same as a 150 4 stroke. It would be way too heavy (500#) So i decided to go with the new Suzuki 140 4 stroke jet(420#). Its about the same weight as a 115 Yamaha 4 stroke and at around 100hp, should be plenty. Time Off, i really wanted to go with the 19 Mariner with a 6 foot bottom. But my garage door is only 94" wide. With the 17' 10" 88" beam it will squeek in. Thanks again.
