Question - How long did the Halibut 2nd quota time period last in 2003? I'm trying to plan a Halibut trip for July 1st and then do Salmon at Sekiu for 2-3 days. The 2nd Halibut opener is on June 15th so we're talking about 2 weeks for the quota.

Thanks, GP2.

Gawd, can you say Micro-Managed, or what? Is there also a note to consult with your lawyer before gassing up the boat to go fishing? I'm especially excited (NOT) with the Sunday through Thursday openings.....that works right in with my days off, all right.

Fun5,

I think that is part of their plan, works for them, but not for the working guy. They get to hype on the website about the length of the season, even though it's quota based. If they added the extra day on the weekends the quota would be used up much quicker, and everyone would whine about a short season.

I suppose it's a fair compromise, but yea, it does suck that you have to get a day off to get on a boat, 'cuz the weekend boats are usually booked a year in advance!
