Planning on fishing the Chehalis next weekend with Salmon Slayer (my step-son). He knows the holes where they might hang out, but wondering if anyone has fished it and had any success.

Gear recommendations certainly appreciated!

Mike

Hmmmm. I was going to ask the same question. I was wondering about drift put in's and take outs above tidal influence. Don't tell me there aren't any springers in this river. I won't buy it.

Chum man & Kyle,

There is a small run of spring chinook in the Chehalis River. I'm amazed any are left and that they occasionally occur in "harvestable" numbers, given the condition of that watershed. Must have been a significantly different thermal environment in that system a hundred years ago. Or maybe it's always been a very small run.

Sincerely,

Salmo g.

The Chehalis is one of my home rivers. I have fished it 3 or 4 times for springers. We fished all the holes that hold fall fish. I have yet to catch one. For that matter have not even heard of one being caught. We did however caught a 6' sturgeon on a K-15 Quickfish a couple of years ago. Quite a handfull I might add.
