I'm camping at Birch bay this weekend & will plan on bringing my sled with me.

Since I've never fished the Nooksak, how is the launch @ Ferndale?

Is the river decent for a trip up to Deming?

What kind of fish are in & how do I rig up for them?

Anything to look out for or be aware of? Nets across the whole river perhaps?

I'll have a boat load of children so any info concerning safety is much appreciated!

Thanks,
Full Freezer

Full Freezer - I hate to break it to you but the Sack's summer fishery is about Nil. The NF is glacial fed and vis is rarely better than 6". Although, in the Ferndale area it may settle out a bit.

Watch out for logs, rocks, etc. Many years ago in the summer, a sled was running around up there, the guy managed to find a rock and nearly rip his transom off. He was very luck that he didn't lose his boat.

As for fish, native summer runs are very few, there is a good char population, and the endangered springs, well they're still endangered.

Hope that helps.

take the kids crabbing if it is open, plenty of action for them.

Thanks everyone. I think we'll go tubing on Samish or Whatcom then.

Such a bummer we have great rivers with no fish. What is up with that?
