I fished with a guide recently on the Cowlitz, we used both eggs and pieces of prawn that were dyed pink. The prawns outfished the eggs & stayed on the hook longer. Anyone have the recipe for these? Raw or cooked?

When you cure eggs, just save the juice and put the prawns in it. It will dye them red like your eggs (if you use red egg cure). I've done it that way and it works. you also get a little bit of roe smell on the prawns too.

Go to the grocery store and buy raw tiger prawns in the 51-60 count,I usually just buy a half pound at a time.
Remove from the shell , cut into bait sized chunks , put in a freezer ziplock bag , add pro-glow red bait cure just as you would when curing eggs , I'd add a little prawn oil and maybe a little anis oil also.Let cure 12 to 24 hours, put in strainer let drain for a few hours, pack in borax put in fridge until your ready to fish. What you don't use after fishin put back in fridge, this bait will last longer then most eggs both on the hook and in the fridge.
Good luck,

Or use them without cure like I do. They work great. Alot less messy than eggs. I freeze them in small zip locks 5 or 6 to a bag and just grab one when I go fishing. They thaw fast. I also throw them back into the freezer when done as they are still usable.
