Just want to start off by saying this forum has become a favorite place to hangout online. Thanks to all of you for the constant updates and great info! That being said, let's cut to the chase . . . my *baby* sister and her new husband will be here August 13th - 16th mainly because I've been bragging about the great (salmon) fishing. I sort of . . .( ) well . . . *promised* that they would catch fish (salmon, no less!). I need some really good suggestions where to take them since the Skok (my personal favorite for Kings) won't be open till Sept. (Hubby suggested Safeway but I'm pretty sure we'd get some strange looks if we walked in with our poles ) Any suggestions would be very much appreciated as my *big sister* reputation is on the line. Thanks!

Try the Nisqually. The Indians are already netting the lower river under the I-5 bridge. There already getting some nice Chromers. Hope you have some FRESH Eggs. Kings love eggs. Since your so close to the sounds you'll need to watch the tides. Incoming tide is the best.

I have some freshly cured sockeye eggs as well as some that haven't yet been cured, will that work for Kings?

If you have a boat a good place to try for the Nisqually Kings is right off the mouth in the what is known as Nisqually reach.

Most people fish near the green bouy there. There is usually a strong current running through there so you want to drift in whatever direction it is going. A popular technique is to mooch and jig fish with either Point Wilson darts or Buzz Bombs. I would recommend against herring as the mud sharks will find them faster than any Salmon would...Good Luck!!

The best time to start is usually up to the fish of course....August is normally the best time..But if they are netting in the river, there's probably more at the mouth. Call Zittel's Marina to get an Idea. (360) 459-1950.

You could also take them to the Snohomish for some even year slimers (pink salmon). They can be a little bit less difficult to catch than chinook. Especially \:\) for the noephyte salmon angler.
