Update on my little dude: Post surgery

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Hi everyone, Just wanted to give you all on update on Drew and send some more thanks for the prayers and moral support. I have some pics too, so here goes. Here's Drew, the Friday before surgery posing with his first steelhead hooked and landed by himself. I took him out fishing with my buddy Sean to get his mind off the upcoming big day, it seemed to work. This is his second fish of the day.........back when he was respectable in his clothing choice. ;-) The next pic is from the day after surgery in ICU. Dude wouldn't let us take a pic when he was all hooked up to the machines, but we snuck this one in when he was all doped up on morphine. Here he is on Friday when we got home from the hospital........three days after surgery. WSU sports bottle in hand, in command of the TV room. Last Friday, we went in for his one-week post-op checkup. They said he looked fine, with just a little fluid left in his lungs. Check out the chest film......titanium wire holding him together. He's now climbing the walls because he can't go out yet, so all the books and toys people have sent (lots of Coug fans) have been really great for keeping him busy. I may have to stop talking smack about Coug fans. Yesterday, he got something in the mail from the University of Texas. He opened it up, and in it was a signed photo of Mack Brown, UT's head coach, and a poster of the Longhorn team signed by all the players. They heard about the whole deal from the Coug fans. Drew thought that was really cool and says he wants to watch UT play on TV this fall. Obviously a classy bunch down there at UT to take the time to brighten a kid's day like that. So thanks again everybody. You've all been great through this whole ordeal. It looks like Drew is going to pull through just fine. Thanks a lot from my whole family. Hey Mooch..........if you read this, how about leading us in a little prayer for all the other kids at Children's? I saw some kids there that could use a little help, and you have a way with words that I just don't. Thanks. Dan

I'm sure glad that Drew's surgery went good. Nice to see the support he is getting from the Cougs too! When is Drew's next fishing trip?

Drew, Great news! Glad to hear you’re on the mend. The “better half” is relieved as well. Your dad’s report and pictures have put all of us at ease. But Drew, I gotta tell you there is still one thing that troubles me. I noticed that before you went in for surgery you were wearing a U-Dub shirt, but then when you came out you’re wearing and drinking from all this WaaBooHoo stuff. Something’s just not right here. So I’m wondering if any veterinarians might have slipped in with the other doctors that were working on you? Oh well, I guess losing you to the other side is only a small price to pay for your good health and welfare. Be well my friend.
Dad, Thanks for the update. All the best to you and your family during Drew’s recovery.
It would be an honor and a privilege to pray for you and the Children’s Hospital. Thanks also for your kind words but I am reminded that God looks at our heart and not just our words. But rest assured, when you wrote ‘I saw some kids there that could use a little help’, He not only saw your heart but He heard your prayer as well. What you said in a few words I don’t think I could say in ten thousand. I’ll try my hardest to say it in less.
Heavenly Father,
We praise you for your faithfulness. Just as you have promised never to forget your children, please also help us not to forget you or take for granted what you have done for us.
Thank you for what you are doing in and through the Children’s Hospital to heal and provide for the needs of your little ones. Lord, we humbly ask that you continue to bless those at Children’s Hospital so that your great mercy and love will be made known. May the wonder of your miracles never cease as you Heal the sick, Increase the skill of their physicians, Enhance the knowledge of their teachers, Guide their hospital management and service providers, Give wisdom to their administrators and trustees, Protect the facilities and the people who enter them, And provide the resources, energy and prayers to sustain the work you have given them.
Lord, you told us that you not only came so that we might have life, but that we might have it more abundantly. We thank you that you not only provide for our physical needs but our spiritual needs as well. Therefore we also lift up those at Children’s Hospital that you would bring Courage to those facing life’s difficult trials, Strength to the weak, Peace to the parents, Unity to families, Consolation to the downhearted, Comfort to the mourning And hope for the lost.
All this we ask in the precious name of your son, Jesus Christ.
Amen

Thanks for the update Dan, really good news Mooch, I'm not a particularly religious man, but your prayer sent chills down my spine. Thank you so much.

Glad to hear Drew is gettin' clear of his battles with his health, and hope there's nothing but battles with big fishy's from here on out! Dan - Thanks so much for taking time to share your family's ordeal with us. It helped to put some real perspective on what we have to be grateful for in life. Mooch - You truly have a way with words, your prayers have been wonderful. Sincerely, SloMo & Fishkid
