Anyone ever caught or seen a hatchery summer run caught on the puyallup/carbon river?

I haven't.... but somebody has!

If you look at the WDFW Steelhead Harvest Reports for the last few years on record http://wdfw.wa.gov/fish/harvest/harvest.htm
you'll see a few fish recorded during the summer months.

But are these really summer fish since there isn't any summer plants?

I have caught 2 one in september and one in early october and saw maybe 2 others, one on the carbon and one on the puyallup near antones all were caught during the fall while fishing for silvers I have fished this river for over of fifty years, all of the fish I saw caught were caught in the last twenty years, I asked the local Game biologist about this and he told me they were strays from the green, seems to make sense because they didnt start to show up until after they started planting the green.

Just go down to the mouth of Voights Creek and ask any of the 50 dumbasses snagging Kings to show you one . They all claim to be fishing for summer Steelhead with their corky & yarn and 15# line. In 3" visibility no less!
Best to just stay away from this water till it opens for Salmon September 1st.

Where are all the steelhead going that they plant from Voight? They are scheduled to release another 200k or so smolts this year. Are those heading to the Green as well?

To my surprise I did manage to take one out of the carbon last November. The day after Thanksgiving to be exact. Surprised the heck out of me.
