Found a cool web cam pic of the volcano.

If it's dark out don't bother. It shows nothing.

I've been watching this since the first blast of steam. Pretty interesting, although it sure would be nice if they had some zoom capability there.

It actually DOES show a little something at night, given the right conditions. There will be a glow which they've described as the glow from the magma that's extruding reflecting off of the steam emissions.

I love this "Mt. St. Helens watch". The news media just couldn't let it go, even when it was obvious there would be no spectacular eruption. But some poor schmuck reporter had to stand there freezing their $%# off talking about what COULD happen. All the while the mountain looms in the background doing nothing.

I like this web cam idea much better. Here's a thread idea:

Can you remember where you were when it blew in 1980? (if you're old enough) Now THAT was a memorable day.

I was stationed at Ft Lewis..we went Hiking that day. I was about half way up Mt Rainer and we looked to the south... I thought Portland was hit by a Nuke... we hauled ass for the car thinking all the while that I.C.B.M's were falling all over the country.. when we got to the parking lot someone told us it was Mt St Helens erupting... we felt a lot better... then we got sent to Yakima for 3 weeks to sweep up the ash.. I have hated Washington ever since
