There is barely 30 days to gain 250,000 signatures on the new petition to repeal the gas tax. You can go to and click on "send me a petition" to receive one. Every signature counts, even if is just your own on the sheet.

I can't believe fishermen want to spend another 9 cents per gallon to fill their boats (mine holds 70 gallons) or Eastern Washington farmers, to help pay for an as yet undesigned new Alaskan Way Viadock road in Seattle.

Yeah, why is it that on the east and west sides of the narrows are going to be footing the bill for the new Narrows bridge with a toll and Seattle gets a gas tax to fund their work? I say slap a toll on that baby and repeal the gas tax. Like we don't pay enough to play'

Not to defend the gas tax, because I'm not, but those of you who think having your own state east of the mountains ought to do at least five minutes of research to find out where all of the tax money comes from that pays for *your* half of the state...
I'll give you a hint...it doesn't come from Walla Walla, and it doesn't come from Republic.
It's the same ol' argument that comes up when you discuss the "red" and "blue" states...the red states like to blame all their woes on the blue states, but sure don't mind cashing those billions of dollars worth of welfare checks that are mailed out to the south and the plains states every month...nor do they seem to mind that as the "moral party", they also have a much higher divorce rate, and single parent rate, than do the evil blue states.
Get a grip.
Fish on...

Did you know the state offers a refund for the gas taxes for gas used in boats?

Wash state will return 18 cents per gallon of boat gas purchased. While the tax has been repeatedly raised the 18 cents has remained constant. I'd wager it remains at 18 cents even after the next raise in tax.

I see the Mayor of that *fine* city is upholding the slogan well. I for one, wouldn't be too sad to see the other half the state leave....but only if we can put up a big fence to keep the rip rap out. Western Washington get's the majority of the population and is a nuclear power. We'll probably keep the name of Washington. Eastern Washington gets...er...tons of nuclear waste Yakima, the Tri Cities and Spokane. Seems fair to me. :p Oh yeah, their new state name will probably be something like IwishIwasIdaho. Oh crap, there I go again. Me and my big mouth. I wonder who I pissed off this time???

I sure hope this repeal will happen. Another 9 cents is ridiculous. I sure wish the state would split. I'd move over east in a heartbeat in order to get away from all these whackos and their politics around here.

Yeah I wish we'd split too. I'm tired of funding an uneducated waste land that can't seem to fund itself. While I hate paying more taxes and feel that they are not well spent I, at this time, hate the fact that I funded the eastern side all of my life only to have them turn and bite the hand that feeds them. The west side has the majority and seems to influence elections and tax dollars and.....it's a democracy...what other anti american form of government are you proposing?

Originally posted by Adipose Soup: Um, Parker you kinda got that backward. Convicts don't come from Walla Walla, they come from Seattropolis TO Walla Walla. Wally World has a low crime rate, remember? They're just willing to do you Puget Sounders the kindness of housing your throwaways.
And I am now hereby forever banning you from drinking any more of our wonderful Eastern Washington wine. I wouldn't want you to confuse it with nuclear waste. So there. :p I left Wally World in 87, The only wine in W2 was whine(rs). I will admit though, I do like some of the wines out of the area. Also is nice that I know someone in the Waterbrook Winery and get their wine at cost. Funny how I know someone at the St. Michelle winery and dang near refuse to buy their wines - even at cost. You are right. I'd keep W2. In exchange, you can have Lynwood! Actually, I like all of our state. It's a neat place. Wouldn't want to live any where else. As for the crime thing, unfortunately, Washington pretty much leads the nation in Meth related crimes (I just made that up). Oh sure, Seattletropolis has it's share of big city murders/rapes, etc, but I bet most of the people taking up the space in the Penn are there for smaller, drug/theft related crimes (repeat offenders, etc, and yes, I just made that up, too!).
