You can hit the Blues on the surface with a fly and that would be a hell of a good time. I imagine a big streamer pattern would do the trick to simulate a herring.

We fish a spot up off Vancover island where you are 2 miles out and troll over a sand bar for kings 35 feet deep. Once the Blues find you you are done. You first know they are there because you haul in half of a 30lb king \:\(

So once that happens we put on the steel leaders and take them for a ride. Don't kill them we need them in the ocean.

I'm going to pull a "Doc" and be sure to get in the water with my Blue as I "revive" it.

It will make for a good (and last?) photo! ;\)

Too bad they won't let me do it, but it would ROCK if the seas were mellow and they'd let me bring some scuba gear along. I'd love to take some video while under the boat. I bet it's pretty dang cool to watch fish being fought, sharks circling the area, and a nice sheen of puke/chum on the surface!

I would suggest chain mail gloves if you have never handled them. \:D We tail them and roll them over on their back in the water beside the boat. They go to sleep sort of when they are on their back. Use long pliers to pull the hooks and turn them loose. Never thought about holding one up for a pick but with a few guys a 7 or 8 footer would not be too bad.

Oh, just two Owner 4/0 Cutting Points per leader and a cutt plug herring should do the trick!

Did ya miss the bit about "per leader"? ;\)

Actually, for you H2H, yes, just one set up! It won't take you long to pitch that fly crap overboard and join the rest of us bait chucking fools.

I figure after I attempt to hand off my 3rd fish to you, you'll break. The fly geeks always do....

\:D

On the flip side, If I see you hook a kinger on a fly rod, don't be surprised if I blow you over, steal your rod, and fight your fish! I have no pride! I'll take your spey rod hand-off's any day! \:D

Parker,
I'm thinkin maybe we should skip the charter thing and take my boat. That way you can swim with the blues, and we can funnel some water balloons over at the others.

I think that me and Eyefish are going to have to plan a trip in the M/V FishNg1, I know Eyefish will have his camera ready for all the Puke shots as well as the grip and grins. I will be able to find your charter boat in the fog from all the laughter and the scum line. Just make sure you leave the spud guns at home as my deflecter shield is disabled.
You guys are gonna have a hell of a good time!

Steve

H2H:

Thanks to a invite from one of the kinder members, I plan to be on that vessel as well...in fact, I'm totally looking forward to it!

At some point during the day your going to have to show me how to cast one of those two-handed water-floggers...never tried it and am sure to bring a big blue to the surface with all the whitewater that will be created by the thrashing of 300' of line on the surface... \:D

You did say you could cast that 300', didn't you?
