What is the best size and color for silvers on the blue fox vibrax spinners?

I'm partial to the 4's while targeting them in the local rivers and beach estuaries. Size 5 for AK ho's.

I was thinking size 4 in the shiny blue, but Curtis H. said he has much better luck on the size 3.

As for size, it depends on the water you're fishing. Generally, the smaller the water the smaller the spinner. But any of those sizes should do if the coho are around. Red and orange work well and sometimes they won't look at anything other than green... go figure.

I have also heard that the clearer the water the smaller the spinner, the darker the water the bigger the spinner.

In my opinion which comes from endless hours on the river throwing spinners/spoons. It all depends on how much pressure there has been, what the clarity of the water is, how fast it is and how long the fish have been in the river.

Sometimes a #2 can get slammed all day when no other size could compete and vise virsa with other sizes.

A good one too start with is the #4 .... try it in all silver, silver red, silver green.

Good luck

Personally I love <3 a #3 chartreuse with a silver blade for Coho. Put on a siwash if it comes with a treble.

For years on the Snohomish, a #3 copper Vibrax was the ticket. For the past couple seasons, they are colder than my ex-wife's libido. However, I do have good news and it's not because I switched to Geico..........when the river is high and off-color....... a #4 orange body/silver blade vibrax is it.

99% of the time your lure choice is going to be because of the color of the water. the other 1% is dumb luck.

remember, every peice of metal you toss gives off a certain amount of light. thats going to be the deciding factor in what one to use.

For silvers I use #3's in silver blade and metalic blue body, silver blade and pink body, or silver blade and chartruese body. Thats if the water had 5ft visibility or better, usually best starting in early october when the silt is clearing throught the rest of the season. If its in dirty water use size 4's in the same colors.

Ahhh, my favorite brand for silvers! Reading the above responses should indicate to you there is no one "hot" color. Some good rules of thumb have already been given.

As to me personally, water that is low and clear to perfect height and color, far and away my best size and color has been #3-4 metallic blue body/silver blade. In higher, off-color water, #5 metallic blue, chartreuse or flame body/silver blade have been the ticket. Don't rule out all silver, all gold and all copper finishes either as wild card offerings.

I like the #4.5 purple bodied blue fox!!! But as Eric stated conditions vary. My avatar has a early winter run nate caught on a small river that was gin clear which was released by the way. On a #5 blue, I'm a firm beliver in flash in the right conditions over color though..My .02.

You guys should look in to making your own spinners! Give them a shot - they work. ;\) Not only do they work, but you won't break the bank in getting a few!

4.5 Silver PenTac! The only way to go! Ok, not the only way, but I sure love 'em! \:D Truly is one of my most favorite methods of fishing. I love pitching out hootchie spinners for coho.

PS. Yeah, Winterun's avatar is one of my favorites off of this board. Truly a cool photo.
