Tacoma increases the river flow once each week during the spring and summer to benefit juvenile salmon downstream migration. I haven't been there for a couple weeks, but last time there were still a lot of fall chinook smolts that needed to move downstream.

Sincerely,

Salmo g.

Thanks salmo, From 2520 to 4700 just seemed like a big jump for july. How bad does it throw the fish off? FS

I don't know if it throws them off at all. Changes in flow tend to move adult salmon and steelhead around. Fish that are moving around and looking for new lie water tend to hit, so I think it would be a good thing. Based on my results, however, there are no steelhead in the Cowlitz this year, but that ain't saying much.

Sincerely,

Salmo g.

They are few and far between, but nothing else to do for a few days, might as well burn some gas and bait, thanks guys for the info. FS
