I think the str-1143 gl3 rod with the curado......6 more inches and a powerful butt section.
Although you could buy a Fetha Styx Rod? LOL

1143's are too noodly, way too heavy (physically), unbalanced, not sensitive enough, and really no backbone to them. Not a good hootchie rod choice, IMO.
Started out with the IMX 1025c. Nice and sensitive. Can easily feel when the blades "stop" and the "fish on" begins! Still one of my all-around most favorite versatile rods. If I only had 1 rod, this would be it!
But, I have more than one rod, so.....
Next, I used the TH Sage 290 with similar success. A little heavier than the 1025c, but a nice rod.
Finally, I found THE Loomis rod. Way more sensitive than the IMX and has all the backbone for the biggest of kings, yet the tip is so damn light that you feel every bit of that spinner blade. Add to that enough length and a 1-piece rod, and we have a WINNER! No contest. Game over.
Hands down my newest and most favorite hootchie rod is the:
SASR1002CGLX
PS. I really like the SASR902CGLX as well. Just opted for the longer of the two rods.
PPS. They make for a kick-ass hover fishing rod!!!!

The 1025C will be just fine and is the right tool for the job. Dont listen to these yo-yo's drool over Sage.

Is it true if it rains after half a year of no rain it's time to go fishing or not? Like many of my hardware tossin bretheren, you have to go out and try it for yourself. If a certain rod with a particular action isn't the shizzle use it for somthing else. Last month while fishing for kings in a popular river, dude next to me asked why I was using my rod "Spoon Rod" (old school Lami model) for drift fishing, I told him that I use a different rod for that now, and that this particular rod I use for chinooks only now because of the action it has. He pause's and looks at me and say's, must be working your the only guy here getting any action what kind of rod is that? I replied they don't make them anymore. Later, Winterun

Good question, nothing wrong with wanting to be spoon fed once in a while. I like the 1143c, 1084 and 1025. All will work, all are sensitive and I think you'll be happy with any of em. My 2 pennys worth.

When it comes to tossin' spinners out of the boat for coho, my favorite one is the closest rod to me that is already rigged with a spinner when I see a roller within casting range!
Other than that, use whatever you can cast well with, can feel the pulse of the spinner blade, and has enough backbone to really stick it to 'em when they grab onto your lure.
Me? Lamiglas WC96JC 9 1/2 ft., 6-15# line.
It's also got some maroon thread on the guides, but I don't think that's too important.
Fish on...

PPS. They make for a kick-ass hover fishing rod!!!! I second the SASR1002CGLX. Nothing touches this rod for sensitivity. I hated fishing until I met this rod and the 902C. Now I sit like a dog on a leash with my tounge out waiting for the next bite and everytime I swear it's a 50+er. The way these rods pronounce the bite gives me a chubby! Keith
