LoweDown....speaking of which....how about an explaination of your avatar? Is that rod in the pic the one with the fish on? It's a cool picture and I'd like to hear the story.
It's a bit embarassing actually... During one of the small windows last November we snuck in the Sol Duc as it had dropped down to about 14 boards and 2 1/2' of vis. We did well fishing for coho at the top of the drift, and I anchored in one of my favorite chinook zones so we could eat lunch. It was sporadically dumping snow, and as we were eating it started coming down so hard you could barely see. I noticed as it started to ease up that snow had actually accumulated on the line itself and thought that might make an interesting picture....
We sat there for another fifteen minutes after I took the picture, and then decided to move on. The guy in the photo goes to reel in his rod and when he picked it up he said "Hey, how come my line is going waaaaayyyy downstream?!?"
At first I thought some debris had grabbed it, as alot of sticks and branches were coming down, but when he reeled down on the rod he felt headshakes, set the hook, and ended up landing and releasing a 40 lb. dark king. We'd totally missed the bite and the reel dumping about 150' of line because of the whiteout. The river went back out of shape the next day.
