Just wanted to wish all of you a happy Cinco de Mayo. I like to make it a "whole weekend" event and no I am not Mexican, but I do love a good reason to party. I'm starting off tonight with Steak Fajitas and Margaritas, tomorrow I will plant some tomatoes, jalapeno & habanero peppers in my garden and then in the evening play Texas Hold 'Em with some buddies while watching the DeLoya/Mayweather fight on PPV. Sunday will be spent relaxing and then an early dinner at Daniel's Broiler on Lake Union.
Anybody else have any special Cinco de Mayo plans? I know Mingo will have a bottle of tequila conveniently located near his hand most of the weekend. And Merg will be drinking tequila shots from belly buttons.
Most of all..........be safe out there.

Hey Snake - I can tell you like peppers so I figure you like to make your own salsa and other Mexican type foods. Plant some tomatillos. They are used to make salsa verde, are easy to grow, easy to cook up and are tasty. My favorite Mexican beer, Pacifico, in on my horizon and my wife is whipping up something for us.

Thanks Chuck E, I'll give them a try. I grew Serranos a couple of years ago, but wasn't overly impressed. I do 9 different tomatoes, too.

I hear ya Stam on the weather issue with the tomatoes/peppers. They're in my greenhouse now getting happy. I did put in 1/2 of my Walla Walla sweets and built another trellis/arbor for more grapes near my greenhouse. Will put in my first two rows of corn(two varieties) today.
The harvest party sounds cool and I've got some mean salsa. My favorite dish with the Jalapenos is to slice them lengthwise, remove the seeds, fill them with goat cheese, wrap in bacon and them grill them on the barby. A tangy Polynesian dipping sauce works well with them...............and a cold beer.

Poblanos are good, are similar in taste to anaheims but bigger. i find them easier to burn the hide off them for rellenos. Poblanos are what we were served in San Jose del Cabo last month when we ordered rellenos. I wished i would have known that tomatillos would volunteer easily. The woman I get my pepper starts from didn't grow any peppers this year.

That would great, stam. I'm spending so much time working on a flipper house getting it ready for sale that I haven't even started any garden stuff so the timing may be good. We'll figure out the logisitics then. I live in the Bremerton/Silverdale area but get out on the OP, as far as Sequim at least, very often. I have some friend's that live up here in the summer that would like a couple also. I'll come up with something to trade of an adult beverage nature.

Parker can stand up and testify I can and and will testify! SheCop was HOT! The clays were fun. The food was good and the beer was cold. Oh wait, what was I testifying about?? All I know is that I'll be back there again! Looking forward to meeting some of you (again) at StamFest. PS. Bring plenty of AA Winchester #8 trap loads. You'll want and need 'em. Fun stuff. Don't worry about the scatter guns. I got that covered.
