My kid is 2 and really likes trains. We go train watching in Monroe and he likes it. I thought about taking him to a hobby shop to check out the displays. Anyone else have any other ideas to see some trains?
If you are ever in Noblesville Indiana there is a train museum that really rocks for both kids and adults. It was cool to see cooking, dining, sleeping and passenger cars from the 1930’s to present.

Go to Snoqualmie, check out all the old trains, and take a ride on the train through town.

Point defiance has museum on logging trains and at times they run a short steam train ride. I have been told that during the christmas season they run a santa train too. I am not sure of the times but you could probably find them on the internet. Good luck

There is a train club here (steamers club?) in Port Orchard. Every other Saturday you can ride model trains. These are authentic scale models from steam, electric and coal engines. My son loves it. Also, for a trip you can go to Hood River and ride one of the big boys up the mountain for a pretty reasonable fee.

Right now my 2 year old Hannah loves trains as well, especially Thomas the Train.
They have a huge selection of cool Thomas the Train toys at Target right now. Check em out...
I recall there being some restored Steam train rides in Chehalis too....

Todd They do a Christmas train every year. IIRC it goes from Snoqualimie to North Bend. They have a Santa at the end with hot cocoa and cookies.

My Dad and 10yr old son are both Train fanactics. We go to Interbay train yard on the south side of the Ballard Bridge for train watching lots of action if its your thing. While you are there, the miss beacon plumbing and oberto hydro shops are there. If the doors are open they will usually give ya a tour. If you end up in Portland in November the Portland Train Club has tours of thier 2 story train layout..It is huge. This weekend is a Train Exibition at Puyallup Fairgrounds. Huge layouts and a perfect way to wear out the little people. When mine was 2 I would get him the engines that dont work and the cars for a dollar at the swap meet. He would push those things around his track for hours. There are many real trains to ride around washington. We did the steam train at Mt Rainier historical train place.. You can google it.. We found that the monroe watching is only good early morning on sat.. very few run on sunday. There are more train rides in portland . These train brains had me driving all over everett chasing the steamers that BN runs from oregon and back.. They even had me bring the boat so we could follow them down the water front. I paid em back.. 4am, 30 degf, salmon fishing haha. Good luck!

For those who have kids that like Thomas the train. Hood river has a Thomas train each summer that will take them up the mountain as well. Complete with a meet and greet of Sir toppim hat himself

Snoqaulmie does a Thomas the train thing every year as well.
Funny thing about the trains, he loves to watch them but isn't to big yet on riding on them.

The Port Orchard Train is the best. From April through October 2nd & 4th Saturdays you can ride for free, the track size is going to double in the next two years. Only thing like it in the NW.
