Just wondering if there are any reports, info, tips on the salmon fishing in the union river or the tahuya river?

I have some info for you...if the "river" is small enough to pee across you probably shouldn't be looking for reports on the internet.

Here's something useful for you. The small tribs and rivers on the Hood canal all have runs of something, and they are all pretty close to each other. Check your regs, see what's open, and make a day of hopping from one creek to the next. Some of them are choked with chum right now, some have nice sized coho in them, some are a bit empty, and a few are closed regardless.

My biggest piece of advice? Try your best to ignore the crowds. As in don't get sucked into the vortex created by a bunch of anglers. Guys drive by the Hoodsport hatchery and feel that because there are 100 guys out there that the fishing is superb. They also drive right over some waters that are devoid of angling pressure, but full of fish. If you have the juevos to break away and be your own man, the rewards can be wilderness type crowds over healthy schools of fish.

What Vhawk said. I owned property on the Tahuya for many years. it's a mere shadow of it's former glory, and what few it has needn't be discussed on an Internet forum.

Fish the estuary, Canal near the river mouths. Lots of elbow room, lots of fish right now. Mostly chum but a few coho mixed just outside. :two cents:
