I doubt they would put two in this state so soon with the new one opening in Lacey this week.

I've never been in a Cabelas store. I take it the Retail outlet prices are not the same as the catalog prices? D.

Higher prices in addition to sales tax added and now probable sales tax on catalog purchases......
Support your LOCAL tackle retailers.

They just annouced on the News last week that Cabelas is opening up a store in Yakima. Cabelas has gotten on this kick of buying up costco buildings when costco builds a new bigger building. So, we got a new Costco (it opened up on the 31st) and the next day it was all over the local news that Cabelas baught the old building.

I just don't see this as a bad thing. I personally can't wait to go check this store out.

The bad thing is the Big Box Store Mentality.
The big box stores, Costco, Joes, Cabelas, Lowes, Wal-Mart, Home-Depot, kill the local markets in the long run. The benefits you see from these stores is very short term. You may save a buck or two today, but in the end the local economy truly suffers. As opposed to possibly paying a slight bit more to help your local store, who actually cares for their customers actual needs on a personal level.
The small time local retailers can't compete price wise with the Big stores, but you can guarantee that their customer service will always surpass that of the 16 year old kid standing behind the counter of the Big Box Store waiting for his $7.50 per hour pay check.
In one thread here we have a member promoting their 25% off Simms sale, but then this thread is promoting Cabelas. If you don't think that Cabelas will take away from our current local gear retailers, you are wrong. The big name store can cut costs to the consumers, then pay their overseas supplier less, who in turn pays their sweat shop employee less. It is a horrible cycle that you should do your part in curtailing.
just a point to ponder

Support your LOCAL tackle retailers. They are my local tackle retailer. Other than Tumwater Sports, which although the owner is great, doesn't have a anymore gear than what's already at Fred Meyer's. I'll still give Tumwater first shot at my biz, but I think thats the most any small business owner can expect. It was only three years ago that I HAD to drive to Fife from Olympia to get any tackle. 1 1/2 hours of driving if I wanted to build some spinners, or buy hoochies. Now I've got Sportsmens Warehouse, and Cabela's just down the street. I'd have to be really really stoned to not be excited about the opportunity.

Yard Birds was the last time I spent a couple of hundred in Thurston County.
I buy barbless hooks locally. Service is what seals the deal.
