They are great rods, more of a reddish/maroon blank. Hang on to that stick & fish the crap out of it.......

That 1084c is one of the best winter steelie blanks, I bet the IM6 is pretty close to a current GL-3 in flex. Maybe a touch lighter, & better looking for sure.

That is a great find on your part. Very hard to come buy and ecellent rods.
I still have my original 1141C & 1141S IM6's.
My best score though was buying five Loomis IM6 fly rods from a guy in California a few years back for $75.00

Likely mid to late 80's.
Those wood reel seats are great looking.

oh yeah this is such a nice feeling rod. i cant wait to bank a few winter steelies this week. well ok ok try to anyway.

now if i can only find my old shimano bantom to go with this rod. that would be a sweet retro setup right there.

deerslayer,
I like your old school thinking. I've got a Loomis rod that I bought directly from Gary himself in 1982, the year they started business. We went to one of his long time employee's home shop to pick it up, as that is where they were doing business at the time. It doesn't even have a model # on it. Dark graphite, wood reel seat and hand painted Loomis name on it as well as my name.
I still use it once in awhile. Usually with a 200SG or 250 Bantam Mag.
Brian

P.S. You'll have to kill me to get one of those IM6 fly rods ;\)
I always thought the removable fighting butts were a great idea. I'm surprised rod makers aren't doing that much today.

yeah im really into old/quality gear. but i can never get myself to use it cause of the brakage factor. i would hate to break this rod and have to get a new model one. oh well though im gonna fish the piss out of it.

...kill ya for a fly rod...i think not. ill trick you into selling me one. lol

i have an old bantom somewhere i just have no idea where. that was my favorite reel and what i learned to steelhead fish with when i was 14yrs old. then put it aside for newer gear. and never seen it sence lol

IMHO, Loomis make a mistake when they quit making the IM6 rods.
My reel seat finally worked loose and I sent it and got a GL3 in return.
Very sad day!

Ok so why send it in, just find a pro to strip in butt and reseat the reelseat.

The other thing you could do rather than strip it down is, Mix up some 5 min epoxy and go to the feedstore buy a syringe, one giving dogs shots, inject some 5min through the cork to reseat the reel seat.

Might buy 2 syringes just to make sure you inject enough epoxy before the syringe is ruined.

good idea. i figure thats the better choice. the good thing about is that i have a allstar i had don put the same exact handle on. so if this wood cracks or gets ruined i have another handle i can have swapped.
