Can anyone tell what kind of bobber stop to use on braided line?Those in line ones tied to a hollow straw just aren't holding for me. I like to rig so whatever I use will pass through the guides. Thanks

the ones that are green and look like a thicker material are the only stops that I like to use cause they wont slide through. You can make you're own too if you figure out how to tie a nial knot.

Pick up some 30 lb dacron and tie a uni-knot on to the main line. You can pick up a 10 yard spool at your local tackle shop for real cheap and it works great. 10 yards will last you for a long time too.

Use the Dacron and uni knot, very easy. I use it on all lines for slip floats, I put one on a float rig with 30# power pro a year and a half ago and it's still on there with no issues.

I don't know why anybody would buy a bobber stop, it takes less time to tie it yourself.

How deep of water are you fishing???? If under 8', why don't you just fish a "fixed" float/bobber???? Then you don't have to worry about any knot to stop the float/bobber......

Just take the green rubber band that comes around your newspaper and tie it on your line using a halfinch and you have an adjustable stop. You can get about four bobber stoppers out of one rubber band. No need to ever buy one.

I've been using the ones similar to stonefish's and they are great, really simple and dont burn your line if tightened too much like the old standard thread stops. It slips on and your done.

I use two stops and never have a problem with em sliding.Pull tight and leave 1/2 inch tags on each to make for easy tightening down the road.My bobber stops never slide while using braid only with mono.Good luck,

Here is the narrative.....

I use the little straws that are used for swizzle sticks, embroidery string, about 20-25lb mono, and a pair of scissors.

I make a loop with the mono and then bite one end of the loop, or pinch it with pliers so it will lay parallel with the straw.

I then get my string and lay it parallel with the straw and piece of mono.

Wrap the string around the straw, the mono, and itself about 5 or 6 wraps.

Cut the string leaving about an inch. Put the tip of the string thru the loop in the mono. If you wet it first, it goes in easy and will pull thru easy.

Pull the mono out from under the loops. The tag end of your string will come with it.

Pull each end of your string and it will tighten your knot a little. Don't over tighten.

Slide the knot toward the end of your straw and then cut the straw leaving the knot in the middle. You should be able to get 6 or 7 knots per straw.

Total cost per knot, about a penny.
