The yoke broke on my old net, and I am looking to upgrade to a Beckman net. I am looking for something for steelhead, and salmon up to 35/40lbs.
This is the net I was looking at, and am looking for suggestions
Husky Musky/King salmon/chinook Original Beckmanet 30"x42" hoop/bag
Also does anyone have experience with treated and non treated. Is it worth getting the treated net. Also I do a lot of catch and release, so I am looking for a net thats easy on the fish. Any suggestions would help.

If your fishing out of a drift boat get the beckman that has the shallower bag. The extremely deep bags get caught on to much stuff when trying to get the net out of the back of the boat. Just my .02
I love my Beckman

Thanks for the info, I was wondering about the depth of the bag. I dont like those super deep bags. How do you tell how deep the bag is from their web site. Is the depth listed in the 30"x42" measurement some how ? Any help is appreciated.

I may be wrong but I believe the depth is the 2nd #.
I mainly fish saltwater so the deep bag is my favorite.
I own 4 of them and love them all.

Get one in the FinSaver Pen Series. That style net was featured in a full page photo ad for Loomis rods for most of last year. click here The open bag is shaped like a laundry basket... the idea is to create a "net-pen" with vertical walls and a flat floor. The fish has plenty of breathing room without getting all tangled up in the mesh, yet the "floor" suspends the fish high enough for an easy release. My Magnum FinSaver Pen easily holds kings to 45 pounds, and when I have the hoop/yoke level with my coaming gunnel, a nice big salmon is perfectly cradled in the top 8-10" of the water surface. Unlike the ultra deep bags, the fish's head won't sink down into the bottom of a deep sac where it becomes a royal PITA just to get it oriented back head-up to remove the hook.

Doc you sold me.
I think Im gonna go with the Finsaver net, treated 30"x39" with the 4' handle. Looks like this net is real easy on the fish, and easier to get them out and released quickly.

That is exactly how I had my net laying across the coaming gunnel when California Sea lion wanted the wild springer worse than me. Beckman replaced my net free of charge under warranty!!!! I was impressed.

Doc, Do they make the finsaver bag in the big, deep, bag that we love on the Kenai? Nope... the FinSaver bags are all built a little shallower with a flat "floor" to facilitate the release of fish. This helps to suspend a fish flat near the surface for easy access to the hook... also helps a lot for measuring "slot" fish. A deep bag is definitely a plus for literally swallowing a giant king when it comes time for the netshot. They ain't getting out! But the corollary to that is they do make it tougher for guys to keep a fish horizontally suspended for measurement and release. Maybe get one for Joe's boat and let him be the guinea pig for your fleet. He might just be VERY pleasantly surprised.

if i have a hoop i like already will one of there replacement nets fit my hoop or does it have to be theres? mabee a dumb question. just curious I have a stock treated FinSaver bag mounted on a Frabil hoop. Just bought a nice extension handle for that net last summer. My favorite custom non-treated FinSaver bag is mounted on the original Beckman hoop with 6 ft handle.

Another question - do all net manufacturers use the same measurements when describing hoop sizes?

The measurement isn't a problem for me, a 7' wingspan comes in hand for some things!!.....Joe on the other hand could use a little help.
