I'm pretty sure that Salmo is right. There are no city and county taxes on gas in Washington.

The pricing seems odd to me also. Take for instance Safeway. I pass by three of them on my way to work every day. Each store has a different price. You would think chain like Safeway would have uniform pricing, but I guess not? Sometimes it as much as a $0.10 per gallon difference from store to store. Costco seems to have the same pricing at all their locations. Bellingham has the states highest prices and they have a refinery nearby.

Each city imposes a small amount of tax on the state sales tax. Some cities have an all in tax of 7.9%, while others are 8.4%. That 0.5% differential can make up another 1.5-2 cents per gallon.

Often gas costs more just down the street from the refinery than it does at a station 100 miles away. Sg Welcome to Bellingham.
