anyone have some scrap aluminum they have laying around and want to get rid of. im gonna be making the rounds collecting scrap metal. im picking up aluminum free of charge.

yea its a good going rate. problem is getting enough to actually make some money...

i took in 18lbs last week and got $10 for it. not to bad considering 580lbs of metal only got me $21...

i figure i can save some people the trouble of taking scrap matel to the dumb and dropping it off for free or the gas to make the run to a scrap metal yard. i would have to get at least 100lbs of aluminum to make it actually worth it. and as far as aluminum goes that is alot to make 100lbs.

i wish i had known the going rate for it though last year. i use to help a friend out welding aluminum and he through away 300lbs of the stuff. GRRR

Wow, I have a set of wheels from my truck that are junk, guess it may be worth the time to drop them by the salvage yard... Definately not worth your trip down here from Seattle though !

Is my math about right ; steel +/- .04 per pound, and alum +/- .50 per pound ? How about copper ?

$3.60/lb. last time I checked for #1 clean.

I called today RE alum= .75 for old car rims

There are a bunch of differnet prices for it, depends on what its from, The dirtier the less its worth. A Willies is probally worth about 700.00 for scrap

Acutally, the price for new, freshly extruded, and pulled on the west coast Aluminum , is at <$2.00/lb. I buy roughly 50,000 lbs of aluminum bi-monthly and the price has been in a downward trend for the past few months. I have a company out of seattle buying my scrap/rems for near $1.00/lb. they deliver and pick up containers for me to fill, then pay for each pound I give them.
