Has anyone ever witnessed anything similar to this? I find it interesting. http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/451.html

There's hate and ignorance anywhere you go. Especially at a Palin rally.

If it a 'set up' job - so what? The vid showed an American citizen being discriminated against because of her religion. How does the fact it was a 'set -up' job make a difference? Does that make it ok? If something similar happened to you, how would you react?

You can find that kind of stuff anywhere, any time. It absolutely reeks. Read about people getting screwed with, beat up, killed all the time "just because"........ and plenty of folks just stand around and watch. CYA is the MO of most.
And those same observers are the bravest hiding on a keyboard, or hanging with others with the same lack of character.
This isn't about politics, so drop that lame crap.
Good on that young gal who wouldn't back down.

I didn't watch the video, so my comments are based on what is or is not in there, or what it's about...
For myself, I don't make a distinction between "freedom of religion" and "freedom from religion"...I don't care one single bit who someone worships, whether it's one God, or ten of 'em, or goats, or palm trees.
Part of "freedom of religion", to me, means that if you start telling me about your religion, I have the freedom to tell you to STFU. No more than anyone is made to practice any sort of religion am I compelled to have to listen to anyone talk about their chosen religion, either.
"Freedom of religion" and "tolerance" does not mean I have to listen to someone tell me how great their religion is, and how it doesn't allow them to do the things I like to do...or even worse, if they use their religious beliefs to start pushing legislation to codify their beliefs, or to make me have to adhere to their self-chosen religious tenets.
Freedom of Religion is just fine by me, but it doesn't mean a damn thing without my Freedom from Religion...if I don't have that, then you don't get yours, either...and I think we can all agree it would be better if everyone got what they want.
Evangelicals are out there pushing their beliefs and their religion...it's weird, but I gather it's part of their religion to go out and try and convince others to join them in their happy life.
I don't like that, not when they try it on me, at least.
I'm not out there telling people that they should all ditch religion, some sort of "evangelical anti-religous nut"...they're welcome to exercise their freedom of religion to try and convert me...what I don't like is that it is labeled as "intolerance" when I practice my freedom of religion and free speech to tell them to STFU and take it elsewhere.
Their rights are no more precious, or valuable, than mine.
Kind of a weird rambling post...sorry...but I get sick of pedagogical religious nuts telling me I'm "intolerant" because I don't want to hear about their latest ritual or enlightenment that they just can't wait to share.
"Intolerance" would be if I told them they can't practice their religion...which I have no interest in doing...like I said, worship whomever or whatever you like, in whatever way you want, so long as it doesn't interfere with others' rights to worship whomever or whatever they like, including the choice to not worship anyone or anything.
For me, the worst thing that ever happened to spirituality was religion...took a beautiful fulfilling thing and turned it into a tool to control people and consolidate power.
Fish on...
Todd

Far and away, the most intelligent , eloquent and well grounded post I have ever seen from you, Todd. Kudos to you for expressing yourself in a most humbling manner. I have to admit, that while we have differences, on this subject, we are pretty damn close to being on the same page. Hope that doesn't give you pause, as it only illustrates how much we have in common with our fellow man. Hope this doesn't sully you rep, being as a KNUCKLEDRAGGER sees this the same as you.

If you want to read some real disturning stuff, just visit freerepublic.com.
Makes a KKK rally look like a 60's love in.
Obviously Jerry, you don't read Kos.................just repeating what O'Reilly says, eh ? I have read Kos and was a little disturbed by the level of "hate" displayed. To find a candidates weaknesses I read material from the opponent's side and then factor in the "truth" as I can best determine it.

Todd, nice rant on religion.... Hint: watch the video....It's more about radical reactions to religions, prejudice, bravery, and cowardice.

Todd, I agree 100% with your religion rant...........but what a business model! They try to sell you an "A" ticket to a thrill ride they can't prove exists, but then threaten you to eternal damnation if you refuse to buy their ticket! Except.......waaaaaaiiiiittttt a gosh darn minute.....they can't prove the eternal damnation exists EITHER! I want to start a business where I can get money from people by selling them something I don't own, and in fact cannot even prove is real, by scaring them with a penalty I also do not own, and also cannot prove is real.......

JLH..... Nice post, quite an eye opener for a few of us, I'm sure. You know, we get so caught up in our respective political parties that we tend to lose sight of the "big" picture, and that's that we are all Human Beings, regardless of which God we chose to pray to, and that nobody should have to be subjected to discrimination, regardless of what their particular faith is..... Sadly, it seems that there is a fairly sizable faction of the population that feels that it IS ok to discriminate against people who are of a faith other than Christianity (in this case, Muslim). The fact that we are "at war" with people who happen to be Muslim does absolutely nothing to release us from the fact that IF we really are the "better" society, then we need to act like it, and this means NOT making cracks about the "Damn Towelheads", and the "sand N---ers". We live in a country where race, creed, and religion are supposed to have no bearing on how a man (or woman) is judged. I know that there are people out there who will say that we need to police the Muslim population for security reasons, and I would beg the question, Which would we be better off with, a society where we sacrifice freedom for security, or a society where we sacrifice security so that we can have freedom? We cant have it both ways..... I know my vote lies with freedom for EVERYONE, as that's what our founding fathers had in mind when they forged this country......... Konezone, This thread had nothing to do with Party lines, so chill out on the Obama conspiracy theory because nobody likes a Douchebag, and THAT sir is exactly what you sound like.
