I'm trying to find a good fly line for use in the Puget Sound. I'll be targeting SRC's and Coho from the shore. I was leaning toward Cortland's 444 camo, Rio's clouser, and Scientific Angler's still water. Am I barking up the right tree? Also, can I fish a popper effectively with an intermediate line? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

A floating line is reccomended for poppers however Im not a big popper fisherman. Ive heard good things about the Airflo 40+ along with the scientific anglers streamer express with the intermediate tip. I myself use the RIO outbound and dont have too many complaints except for the running line is pretty small causing more tangles than usual. As for casting though it loads nicely and can shoot long distances with ease. If I were to buy another saltwater line I would peak into teh scientific anglers streamer express....just for something different to try.

Good advice so far, I've not fished the Rio 40+ but use the SA Streamer Express Intermediate tip regularly. The Streamer Express is what is known as an "integrated head" (as is the 40+), that is, essentially a one-piece shooting-head-with-running-line-attached. These lines are designed to cast long distances using the double-haul technique; very handy for saltwater fishing where the fish seem so often to be just beyond comfortable casting distance.

Fishing a popper with an intermediate line sort of undermines the rationale of fishing a popper, since the line would pull the popper under and the primary appeal of the popper seems to be the v-wake disturbance it creates on the surface.

The Rio Outbound would is my choice for a floating line and is what I normally use when fishing the popper. Many sunk flies, particularly weighted ones, can be fished effectively with a floating line, it's rarely necessary to get very deep when fishing for coho or cutthroat.

Jake & Preston both offered you good advice. I'll add what I can. All the lines mentioned are good and you'll find fans of each.
I fish the 40 + fast intermediate and like it a lot due to the Ridge running line. I've also fished the Outbound, but didn't like it as much due to tangling issue with its thinner running line. The Outbound also has a longer 37.5' head then the Airflo's 35' head.

If you haven't cast one of the intergrated lines, do yourself a favor and visit a flyshop to cast them. They are a different animal and you won't be making a bunch of false casts with these lines.

Another option to consider is the Rio "Short" Outbound lines. These just came out. They have a 30' head and the running line has been improved from what I've heard. I plan to buy one of these and give it a try.

Unfortunatly, I don't have any use for 6wt at this time. I picked up some 8wt Outbound this weekend. It worked out well enough considering my lack of skills with the bug rod.
