Dallas Academy has eight girls on its varsity team and about 20 girls in its high school. It is winless over the last four seasons. The academy boasts of its small class sizes and specializes in teaching students struggling with "learning differences," such as short attention spans or dyslexia.

And yet, they get more press than the WNBA.

That's some good christian values right there.

Maybe the losing team should practice a little harder............. Or perhaps just take up washing dishes or knitting......

Did I hear correctly on the radio news that the coach of the winning team has been fired? Maybe he should seek coaching employment at the losing school!! This would be a made for Disney movie..The coach could be played by Billy Bob Thorton...Fired coach drinks self into the gutter where he is rescued by god and charged with breathing life into the "Struggling" Academy basketball program..

getting a 100-0 win over a BB team that has not won a game in four years is no accomplishment and the coach deserved to get canned.

He left his starters in the whole game and employed a full-court press when up 59-0.

Normally, I'd say if you don't want to get beat 100-0, then learn how to play better..........but in this case, I think the canned coach wrote his own walking papers.

I believe that the real reason that he got fired was his public disagreement with the Headmaster. Never a good long term strategy to publicly disagree with your boss.

What I don't get is that when i was a junior and senior in high school I would have understood that we had the game in hand when it was say, 65-0 or so, and probably cooled it off, even if it pissed off my coach. I think most kids would. What are these parochial schools teaching?

Also, what I dont understand is that quarters in high school games are 8 minutes. That means that the winning school was scoring over 3 points per minute for the entire game. The losing team had to basically be inbounding to the other team, and not playing defense at all. The losing team's coach should be fired too.

Also, if my kid was out draining 3's after they were up 50-0 I would go down to the bench and tell her to knock it off.

When I used to play soccer for Grays Harbor College, we would routinely get our asses kicked 12 or 13 to zero (which is the soccer equivalent of 100-0), and to end our misery, oftentimes we would start a brawl. Nobody gets hurt in a soccer brawl anyways, just a bunch of pushing and cussing (oftentimes in several languages in junior college) ending with a dogpile.

The coach got fired for not apologizing for the win or the score. Not that an apology would do much good after the fact.

Little brother's not exactly concerned whether or not you apologize at that point.

There are lots of ways to hold a score down in basketball. I used to have a "20 point rule" where once up by that far, we ONLY shot left handed. Hell, employ the stall offense or ten passes before a left handed shot... think of something, anything. You just dont humiliate the other team like that.

The coach deserved to get fired for the classless act, letter or not.

I coach girls basketball and I agree that the winning coach should have been fired. Inexcusable behavior. When up by a margin so large, the coach should have told the girls to not only shoot with their left hand (as Elkrun said), but also wait until the 30 second clock was down to 2 or 3 seconds before they shot..........or don't shoot at all. It wouldn't have hurt to have the point guard lose the ball and let the weaker team's defense go down and make a fast break lay-in either. Two points on the scoreboard goes a long way compared to zero.
