The mid season winter metal numbers don't look good @ all,but I've been having lots of fun out on the rivers fishing with new faces. Here's how it's breaking down.
Hooked 11
Landed 8
O'phers 4
10 trips so far this winter. One hook up per trip on average.Hopefully the nate run will up the numbers.Good luck,

When did your trips start, SZ?

Start of the year, or start of the Brat season?

Opher has reared his ugly head on my last two trips to the rivers. O for O. O for 2009. Zero hooked, Zero Landed, Zero Everything.

Even Superfly's Mojo didn't help me.

I'm thinking about borrowing Stam's skunk avatar......

Loc: River that your fishing!
I've made 11 trips to a favorite river not more than 45 mins. away. I started my winter-run fishing in November.
#'s
Hooked-13
Landed-9
Hatchery fish kept-8
Native Fish released-1
Biggest hatchery-39.5''@ 20-22lbs. Biggest hatch in years
Biggest native-40''x21.5''@ about 25lbs. A big Brute Buck

As far as the fishing on my favorite local river, it has been great. Not the best, but pretty damn good! Every one I come across on the river says the season has been really slow. If I'm averaging a fish per trip its far from slow! As far as my spots on the river, their pretty secluded. I know theres other people that fish them cause of trash and other [censored] they leave behind. (That I pick up and pack out)

If you fish presistantly and are patient it will pay off. Good luck!

Oh by the way all fish were caught on ten # clear stren. Thick line hooks less fish.

I fish lot's on my favorite river.....last year was bad.....this year I'm 1 for 1, but no other bites and no "bobber downs". WDFW can say all they want, Region 6 the past 2 years has been the worse its ever been in my 40 years in Grays Harbor and Region 6, someone, something isn't getting the job done. Maybe its time for a complete "house cleaning" of personnel in this Region.....Fish management, Region 6 head personnel, biologists, etc., maybe its time to rotate personnel within the different Regions......to much time pushing buttons on computers, working on ineffective models, too much time spent on NOF....... change is coming....hope they start loping at the top(big dollar salaries), and keep more of the personnel that have direct contact with fish.

Time tells all.......Let the ass kissing begin!!!!!!!!

I started my '09 season on the OP last weekend and ended up 1 for way too many cry The cold water and the light bites killed me and left me baitless way too many times.

Id say that some are either stretching their numbers or I really suck. Ive only hooked up 6 times and landed 4. Sacrafices of being on the sticks or making a fool out of myself with an 8wt......its gatta be one or the other. wink

So far I'm averaging one hookup per trip, with just as many skunks as multi-hookup days. No great days (yet). I think everybody's mojo's gonna come round after the next good gully-washer. Keep the faith y'all,

I really don't count as the Upper Columbia only has summer "boots" now, and it never gets blown out. I haven't really kep track, but 18-20 trips since late November for 40ish fish in my boat. You don't lose many because they don't really fight much. We let most of them go, cause nobody wants them unless they're hens. Probably 60% unclipped fish. I really miss winter fish.
