Hadnt cast a fly rod in probably 4 months before i picked up my rod this morning to chase some cutthroats on the beaches. My buddy and I loaded up our gear and headed off to the canal to see what we could find. After a long walk down to the beach we we immeadiately rewarded with some resident cohos. We fished sparse euphasid patterns and some clousers. Everything we tried hit atleast a couple fish before they seemed to figure it out.
I was really trying to find some cutties so i walked down around the point to a small bar where i usually find fish and it wasnt long before i hooked up. Nothing big, but there were plenty and very eager fish. Some of them looked to be days back from the fresh water. beautiful color to their gil plates and vibrant red slashes on their jaws.
A great day on the water. it was nice to have a fly rod back in my hands.

There are some really nice cutties in the seabeck area. I cant wait to get my boat back over there and fish this summer.
It was nice being out but i forgot how much more efficient you are when fishing from a boat. walking the beach is such a waste of time.
