I have an insurance policy for my boat, motors and trailer through my insurance broker. My boat is a 2005 18' Super vee. I'm paying about $350. per year. I feel I'm well insured for the risk issues. Anyone want to suggest an insurance carrier that they have had good experience with?

My Rogue boat trailer tires are wearing on the outside of the tires, the middle 4-5 inches are like new. I religiously check the tire pressures on my pre-trip check. I run them at 32 psi. Any suggestions? I'm looking at replacing the tires shortly and would also like some suggestions on replacement tires.

Thanks!

Captain

Boat Insurance Company is the way to go IMO! The 3Rivers boys directed me to them about 4 years ago. They have a seattle branch. I had one pretty large theft claim...emailed pics and the police report, and had a check in 3 days (almost 9K). I have 2004 Intruder with replacement value insurance and I'm paying $320.00/yr.

Boat trailer tires are notorious for wearing weird. My first "Set" on a new traielr only make it about 7500 miles. I just go to Schwab's and get replacement ones...I wanna say bias ply though. Remember to keep an old tire for a spare if you don't have a spare already.

Tires that wear on the outside are an indication of underinflation. Tire size/load determine what pressure is needed. My suggestion is to step up a grade or two when you replace those tires, to something that will allow you to increase the pressure (assuming that you stay with the present size tires).

Insurance is a gamble that most all of us take knowing that the odds are we will lose in the long run. Anyone who thinks otherwise must also think that insurance companies don't make money. I have to include myself, however, when I foolishly say, "It's easier than saving."

Realistly, liability issues are probably the most important.
