Super Sport Offshore w/ 40 degree bow/18 degree deadrise

http://www.wooldridgeboats.com/boats/supersportoffshore.htm

I have the 20' Sport Offshore (30/16) with the bracket. Nice stable fishing platform and easy on the gas with the 115 Yamaha. I upgraded the bottom sheeting and fuel tank along with some other tweaks at the time of construction. Easy to work with them.

We have a Wooldridge 20 foor Offshore Sport, now equipped wiht a Yamaha 150 4-stroke. We've done research all over Puget Sound, including Budd Inlet, Port Gardner, Fidalgo Bay and Hood Canal.

I've had it fully loaded with six people, four dogs, and a weekend's worth of food/clothes, coming south across Guemes Channel to the Wahington Park boat launch in 3-5 foot wind waves and 20 mph wind. We took it easy, but there was never a thought that we were in too small of a boat. It took the water real nicely.

I got the 20' Off Shore Super Sport too with the 150 Yamaha. I have had it in the ocean off Vancouver Island and out of LaPush. Handles the crap just fine. It's wide and stable. It will bang you a bit on chop, but good all around boat. I use it too on the Columbia, Sound, Straits, Banks, Roosevelt, Lk. Wa. etc. Next purchase for the boat is trim tabs.

Whatever you get, get the hydraulic steering. I have Sea Star.

One more thing, don't get in a rush. There are deals to be found all of the time. Check out a number of different brands and test drive them, preferably when conditions are crappy. All boats are nice in bright sun with flat water. I am another vote for going at least 20'.

Good luck.

Another vote for Wooldridge... Go in and see Grant or Glen and they will set up up right and can offer u some other designs in their line up... They will also give u the ride of your life if you dare to take a test drive!

Willie are a great boat (I have a 20' high rocker drift boat). But this far north from Medford and combined that Wooldridge are BETTER designed boats... I would consider both, and buy the Wooldridge....

Of course if you want to customize the inside to tailor you needs then of course go w/ the Willie.

If you have to worry about how far away a boat builder is if they have to work on your basic hull I would really be worried about the boat to begin with ! shocked

Boats are like women. You choose the one you love and make sure you want to keep her. smile

Define "better designed?" help

I know numerous boat owners that simply do not purchase boat that they have to travel over tow hours to have simple services done... This make's alot of since and there are many misc things that come up that may need to be service and typically do not have to do w/ the hull.

Wooldridge will work with you on adjustments. I had a thicker hull put on along with a larger fuel tank and some other tweaks. They've been great to work with on some other changes, after we took delivery.

One thing we didn't get and now wish we had ordered was the Zolatone paint for the inside. Oh, well.....

Wooldridge also makes a really nice fish cleaning tray that hooks over the side rail. An option that we've really appreciated over the years.
