Just back from a week on the big island...

...it rained for a week straight. Thought I was in Forks until I realized I could wear my shorts in it without getting cold. Good thing I know where to go to find the sun or we may have come back whiter than when we left. I wouldn't have thought that possible.

I was wondering how many around here have been to the big island and what you remember about it? What was your favorite part?

i was born on Oahu, lived there for a while, and i also lived on Kauai for a while.....visited most of the islands. beautiful places, lots of good weed, i took a helicopter ride over Kilauea volcano. that was pretty cool.

I'm headed there next Thursday and will be fishing Friday.

i took my ex-wife/fiancee and my 4 1/2 year old daughter.

when i go back I'm going to start learning how to fish for ulua from the shore...

I liked the big eel that was interested in my ex-wife at Captain Cook's monument.
The turtles were pretty cool too.

if you do go for Ulua, they use a 13ft surf rod. last time i was on Maui, 5 oceans and 7 seas had some pretty sweet Rainshadow SUR1569's for Ulua fishing. I think Pappys on the Big island carries them too.
