i started out the morning early at 6am to try and get a couple hours in before i had to meet my boss.

started on the alki side fishing along the rocks south of seacrest pier. missed 1 and landed 1 @ 22"
then headed off to meet my boss for a quick chat. on the way home i decided to meet a couple buddies down at pier 86. fished from the grain terminal to the pier with no hits. after going through a couple jigs and a couple squid i switched to a mooching style setup with a big black rubber worm.

i got a hit from a little rock fish and as i was reeling it in i got the feeling of snagging into some kelp. so i started pumping in the dead weight...after a few big pumps i felt a slight tap. then a couple pumps later i got the big headshake. about 10 seconds later up rises a big lingcod with my little rockfish in his mouth.
after a quick drop of the ring net, the lingcod was on the dock. measured out to be 33 1/2"

not bad for a quick stop to see how the buddie were doing.

talked to a couple other guys who had landed 1 @ 21" and seen 1 other landed that was also 21 1/2"

Nice job on the fishies, I might have to head out after work for the kick-off.

Just curious, are those elliot bay fish considered "safe" to eat?

I don't see any advisories for lingcod in Elliott Bay, but there is an advisory for rockfish, and that's what they eat...?

well being the only legal lingcod ill catch all season long it doesnt really matter how unsafe they are :-P

i really dont know actually. i think they migrate into the bay more or less to spawn.

and the toxics that would be in the fish are more in the vitals, and stuff. not so much in the meat...

A friend of mine said that it was pretty crowded out there but there were a few fish caught. He had a 36"er to the boat after a couple hours.

Probablly a bit crowded seeing as how today is the opener for shrimp Can't wait to get out after them!

oh man i was working in everett today and had a beautiful view of the water. and i seen/counter 250+ boats today. seen a few lings caught through the bino's

man like anyone is gonna eat enough fish from PS to die from it. ive been eating crab and bottum fish out of the bay for the last 20 years....and im only slightly retarded.

My bro and I fished elliot bay & shilshole on saturday only catching one small rockfish and no lings. We didn't see or hear of anything caught. A slow day 4 sure. But it was cool seeing the old bombers flying over the city all day.
