So here's my stupid rant, but it's been bugging me for a while...
What's the deal with the stupid river names of the Washington rivers? lame
I know most of them are indian names, but come on indians....couldn't you come up with something less lame or better yet, easier to pronounce? Plus a pile of them sound the same. Snohomish, Skokomish, Skykomish, Duwamish...there's way too much ish going around. Oh ya, who's brainchild was the Nooksack? I'm not even sure where to start with that one fridge
How about the Humptulips...thats sounds like a slang term for a bj.
All and I'm just saying there's too many lame river names around here.
Now don't get me wrong. The Queets, Sol Duc, and Hoh are all cool names of rivers, but overall I don't think Washington competes with Oregon and California as far as the river names go...ie Trask, Kilchis, Nestucca, Umpqua, Siletz, Rogue, Trinity, Kalamath, American, Chetco, Elk, Sixes. Even Canada blows WA out of the water bit the Bulkley, Kispiox, Skeena, Babine.
I guess I'm just of the opinion of you can't name your dog after it then it's not a good name thumbs
JD

Sorry, I'm staying for a while and I'll fish the rivers with cool names. Calawah, Bogisheild, Cowlitz, among other well named rivers.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

We could trade you a couple cool names for rivers for a couple cool names for college mascots.

Ducks and Beavers? That's the best you could come up with?

It's Bogachiel, by the way.

Whats in a name?

The rivers in my area were named after local indian tribes.

Wait a minute.....Thats your former area.

No problems here with names of any rivers.

The only difference I see is the ones in Oregon are easier to spell.

Oregon tribes were not as educated? rofl

Hard to top the Klatskanie being right next to the Clatskanie...

Or how about two rivers called The John Day River, both emptying into the Columbia??

If you're going to live in our state at least learn to speak our language.
Otherwise get back down south of the border.
Apparently we need to tighten up our immigration laws, these Oregon transplants are running rampant and taking all the good jobs/fishing holes. Now they're complaining about the names of our rivers, where do we draw the line?

wink

I'm just jealous we don't have a Cumsheen in our state that flows out of the Hoh and Nooksack and down in to the Humptulips.

Of course, there's the "alternative" river, The Queets. (Say that with your pinky raised towards the Sky-komish). At least the Queets is not Raging.
