To answer your question thats the reel I would buy.
They had the 2500 size a Wholesale sports in Silverdale. They are Buttery smooth- I first held the smaller 1000or 1500 size at Teds. The dude behind the counter provided great service. So I am waiting to get one from them.
FYI the reel can be had online for 199.00 with free shipping and a fill of spectra.
Buttery smooth and very light- bitchinreel

I did read somewhere that it can take the regular stradic spools. can anyone confirm this? Review I looked @ said 1 spool only, two size reels a 1000 & the 2500. I don't know if the older spools will fit or not, if they do its a definite plus. c/22

The Team Daiwa Advantage 2500A is the sweetest spinning reel I've ever owned. I will never go back to Shimano spinning reels and I was a die hard. This reel hands down. It is just to smooth and feels so solid all the way through, comes with an extra top of the line spool(not cheap extra) and looks bad azz on my XMG. http://www.cabelas.com/p-0048761122342a.shtml

yea that diawa is ok, but you can't beat the 6:1 gear ratio in that shimano, the diawa is only 4:7 for the 3000 series and below, and the 3500 series 4:9 and above?
6:1 kicks a$$ with spinning reels, i just bought a penn sargus and waiting for it to come in the mail...

Some other opinions on this reel. Like anything else, it depends on who you ask:
That's easy, Sustain all the way...
Titanium Nitride line roller and spool lip with spare spool. Extra bearing on spool shaft for strong pulling fishes.
IMO, They should've just made a Sustain CI4, period. The stradic is such a waste for that. Just got mine in yesterday. Right off the bat, you notice how light it is, but in terms as smoothness, its not great. Then again, I use mainly a Daiwa 09 Fuego and a Daiwa Certate, so the price difference is pretty substantial. The Ci4 isn't a horrible reel, but doesn't feel as refined as a Sustain or Twinpower. When you talk about price, the difference is pretty signicant when you talk about the other reels in Shimano's line.
I got mine today and love it, handles amazingly well on a variety of my spinning rods. It is crazy smooth, which I love but does make a whirring noise when retrieved. It is not very loud, and I believe it is just the sound of the gears and is just less dampened by the Ci4 frame. Another note on the Ci4 frame is that it is extremely rigid, exhibiting almost 0 flex for anyone who was concerned about it. If you shop the big auction site, there are some killer deals going on right know. I picked up a Sustain 2500 FE for 165.00 shiped new in box. Something worth checking out. Good luck.

That is a even better "deal" since I fugged up my White stradic, I have been wanting another. However why buy a stradic Ci4 when you can get a Sustain for the same money. (I checked ebay and there are quite a few new Sustains around for a Buy it Now Price of 200.00)
