Nope, No, not a chance AM. The rule is follow the MONEY. Large campaign contributions relate directly to media time and mailings to a degree. Go to the dark side and think a minute as you read the parrot calls. People vote many ways but the number that vote right down the line resource issues are a small percentage and will stay that way. Politicians know that so the old saying is all to true................ Follow the money!

I agreed with AuntyM second paragraph earlier today reading it as the legislative process, and using SB 5127 last year as my example.
I understand your point on 1st paragraph about campaign calculated risks VS rewards.
Sen.Haugen who co-chaired with Sen Jacobsen on SB 5127 took that calculated risk and in doing so accumulated Risks:

1) Reprisal by not representing the majority of people in her district
OR
2)The recreational sportman that backed referendum 45 in 1995 that got 61% voter approval that established the commission of WDFW, by trying to gut, under the guise of budget constraints.

3) hoping that at re-election time things will be forgotten--it won't
Etc.
VS
1) Name recognition
2) popularity
3) commercial money
4) to big a name to loose
It should be interesting at election time and at next legislative season.

Ever hear of urban populations? Pull up fed elections by counties nation wide or this state. Grassroots? Don't you mean concrete roots? King, Peirce, and Snohomish turn elections in this state. Grass roots hell most of the people in those counties were not even born in this state. About all they know of grassroots is how to be PC!

I'd like to "Enhance That Old Rule" per my old mentor at BPA, per Herb C., when you don't understand things and frustrates the Beeeeeeee-Jesus out of you, just follow the money or incest, it is typically both. Old Herb the Head BPA Bean Counter was wise beyond his old gray hairs.

It looks like I'm late to the party. You people get started early.
I hope we can all agree on common ground:
1) that the commercial interest in this state has deep roots intertwined at all level of state gov.and has been met with little to some resistance over the years.
2)The playing field has been recently levelled to include:
A) lobbist representation at state level
B) lobbist representation at federal level
C) grass roots upswell that can influence state legislator vote

I think the key to grass root action to possibly influence state legislators is:
1) unified message before vote time in the legislative process
A) should I go against what my constituents are asking on this proposed bill if so;
2) the fear of the unknown
A) How big of upswell
B) Negative press
C) re election issues
D) And a host of other negative impacts need to be weighed out

It is a long road and I think we are on the right path at this time and it will take time to bear this out. It is a late start but at least it is a start and I support it.

I feel like I should nominate you to lead a charge.

Just as long as we Run that asshat Sonntag and anybody DUMB enough to even think about voting for him again. I can't wait to hand deliver to whomever runs against Sonntag, his personally signed letters to me that admitted he was tooooooo dumb to Audit WDFW, or even manage a Performance Audit contract to do the same. And since I am retired and of modest means, I will follow him all over the State next election and embarassing him as much as possible. elite

Naw, they're already here. That whole parade started about 10-15 years ago when the December Cowlitz steelhead program was gutted(all those sleds have to go somewhere, right?) and the PS streams returns began to go down the $hitter; everything closing early.

Good times for sure.

I hear your frustration. Is this a continuation rant about your post about a couple of weeks ago on crab audits?

Found out the other night that a new auditor has been assigned to handle the WDFW audits or at least the PSRFEOC. Her attendance at our meeting was requested, but she was over-ruled by a person a little higher up the ladder. Too bad, as she sounds like she is getting up to speed quicker that her predecessors.

Do you know her name?????? moose cause I should quickly write her a "Short Note" saying "Hi, Luv & Kisses" from the Head COF (Cranky/Crabby Old Fart) kneel
