Yesterday we had a pretty good quake, it was reported to be 6.5 and was centered about 22 miles west of Eureka, Ca. Lots of damage. Got called into work early and heard of several houses knocked off their foundations. Lots of reports of stores with goods knocked off the shelves. I only heard of a couple injuries, and most of the power has been restored. I only lost a couple things that fell out of some cupboards. The great thing about living in a remote rural area is that people are pretty much able to take care of themselves.

I guess my friend felt it. I never did. We're in Monterey. There have been quite a few rumblings this past week.

surprised it was only 6.5 - it was offshore of Eureka and it shook our house around. just to give everyone a point of reference, i am in the foothills of the northern sierra nevada range - the quake went from offshore, through the coastal range, through the upper central valley, and into the sierras. Maybe Pete Carroll will remake your defense with that kind of power

If you are in the building inspection, structural engineering, remodeling or insurance game. You should be very busy, very soon. When we had the Nisqually quake down here in Oly, our office was busy for about 4 straight months. As soon as there is an earthquake, every school, business, landlord, and homeowner is sure every crack in their foundation or bricks happened due to the E-Q. Every now and then they are right.
