Haven't tried it, probably will. Even the siglon sinks the last 6-10 feet above the float and I would like to see if the Ultima is better.

I have landed 10" trout to 35" steelhead. I would never buy the sage pin rods. They placed the reel seat to far back like a spey rod and yes this is how the old timers use to do it. Trust me you will want the reel all the way forward and with 3-5 inches of cork ahead of the reel. Also having your hand resting on cork inthe winter is so much better then having your hand rest on cold metal. Get suffix seige mono in 10lb. That is all you need, braided line is good for extreme drifts which you won't do with an 11' rod and line there is no line twist. But you will have alot of tip wraps. Mono is cheap and you will make big birds nest at first so you can cut out the knot and tie in a blood knot and continue fishing. Once you learn to cast your line twist will go away. If you get a rod and need some help, let me know I fish the yakima alot and use the 11' as my nymph rig. Also Anil and I are having a centerpin class in feb at his fly shop( Puget Sound Angler) Good luck and get a loomis or a raven, not the sage, trust me.

Flywaterguides, Where and when is your class? Sounds good.

I wish I could be there. I will be enjoying some sun on a cruise.

Centerpin on the Yakima? I was thinking about doing that, glad you've set the precedent.

For anyone old and slow enough to still be following this thread, I just received a package with 10# Siglon "Fine Float" line in a package in all Japanese writing, and 10# Ultima Flo-Cast hollow monofilament line touted as "long casting-long floating."

I have been using the Siglon for several years so don't need to learn Japanese, but I am learning from the Ultima package that it is "unbeatable for waggler and stick float work, which is particularly significant as more and more people are beginning now to use the pellet wagler and stick float."

So what is waggling with pellets anyway, I ask. Is that even legal? Won't waggling in public get me arrested, or something bad?

So here is the youtube that comes up #1 when I Google "pellet waggler,"
Think carp! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3PHZKsXiKk

The dude has 100+# of carp! What is he going to do with them?

So, does this mean that pretty soon I'll be thinking of fishing for carp instead of steelies? or that the line will only catch carp? or that I can't try this line unless I'm fishing for carp?

Any good carp recipes?

Man, the things I learn on the innernet.

Let us know how each one works out. I have my CP rod, but still waiting to get my reel, so I will need line someday.
