The other option for handling more fish is to create more wild fish.
looks like they are doing that on the chehalis, The tribe plans to use the hatchery to build up the native runs of Coho, Chinook, and Winter Steelhead for the future of the Chehalis Tribe’s commercial and recreational fishermen and associated cultural traditionhttp://www.prlog.org/10411958-local-fish...-northwest.html

Reducing the 15% incidental take of wild ESA springers isn't essential for recovery.
why not ?, if you look on page 124 of the following link the productivity rate of the upper river fish is less than 1 in almost all cases, this 15 percent cant be helping them. https://pcts.nmfs.noaa.gov/pls/pcts-pub/...st%20Ch8-14.pdf

Gents and Ladies, You gotta read the link. http://www.prlog.org/10411958-local-fish...-northwest.htmlA hatchery producing wild fish? I am informed enough to know that the terms hatchery and wild don't usually occur in the same sentence unless to slam the hatchery form. but, genetically, is the first gen proband close enough to the "native" to let nature sort things out? Not trolling, just asking.

P.S. It's a .pdf, so it takes a bit of time to load, depending on how fast your connection is.

What do ya know......more "wild" fish in the river......Oops...I mean more fish for them.

Holy smokes, a nine page CONVERSATION without a pissin match/name calling thread. After reading through all of these post it's apparent to me we are all after the same goal just differing about how to go about getting there.
I do have one question, why are the snake river dams singled out? Last time I counted there are 7 dams. Feel free to educate me.
